Want to see Urb come back to life?

I have an idea ill toss out here...

Someone develop a server on MineCraft as a companion to this website... you need to tap into something mainstream to revive this site, since it was not able to do so on its own.

The general idea:

1. Create the server i.e. "MC.UrbCraft.Net"
2. Offer incentives within MineCraft for being a top participant on Urb.
3. Create Skins similar to the characters on Urb
4. Advertise Urb within the Site, i.e. "Go to Urbaniacs.com and vote to earn Diamonds!" etc.
5. Mayor_Daman can be "Admin".... etc.
6. Carry the Urb way of life to MC

If you have ever played MC or ever ran a server, you can see where I might be headed with this, the plugins and possibilities are endless in the right hands.

Take Urb to the people... the people are on Minecraft right now, and its pretty cheap to do all this. With donations its even cheaper, I run a server for only 25.00 a month, but there are cheaper options.

More examples...

1. Most servers have websites... well... Urb can be the website/forums etc.
2. Using Votifier can lead people to this website in order to vote for the server, which earns them in game bonuses and gives them an excuse to visit Urb everyday.
3. Urb already attracts the types of players that would enjoy MC, this site basically has the same concept... Build your crib, chat, hold contests... just like MC, its an easy transition.

Good idea! But hosting a server can cost a lot unless you host it from your laptop, and it eats up your ram and cuts your internet speed. You'd have to pay to get it hosted, and I'm not too knowledgeable with that.

Mayor_Daman couldn't be an admin unless someone paid $30 for another Minecraft account and chose that as a username, I'm pretty sure.

Just gotta find someone willing to pay to host a server (or host it on their WiFi, which they'd take losses in internet speed and ram in)

Other than those few things, I think it'd be cool. I'd play it all the time haha! :P

Love the idea but most of the people who run urb dont have enough time on there hands to even attempt this. I personally would love to do it but i dont have money considering that im still 14 and cant really make money.

I dont know how to run a server really, or I could do it. I am more of a hired builder... I build spawn points for servers... never really got into the Admin thing. I am an Admin on a couple servers, but only for being the designer XD.

@Euph Certain sacrifices must be made. So, which one of you is willing to give up your laptop for Urb?

To run a server that will be fast and won't crash, you'll need tons of ramses (RAM) on your laptop. My friend recently set up a server and he has 12GB of RAM on his laptop. The server never lags, but there's only 3 people on it and he still fusses at me when I throw too many splash potions or I spawn too many ghasts. He also gets really angry when I spawn ghasts because he likes the play with the volume all the way up and without headphones and he claims it scares him and his family every time I spawn a ghast... But anyway, one thing we discovered is that his laptop must be on for the server to work. Every time we want to play, he has to start the server and invite everyone to come play. It isn't something that is permanently there, which is why the server would need to be hosted externally. I want a server a lot, but it would kill my 3GB RAM laptop and it would cut my house's WiFi speed A LOT (or so I've been told on Minecraft forums...)

Hey, since Iso came up with the idea, how about he pays for the server? XD XD (JK)

Iso, would you want me to look into it and see how much it costs to have a hosting service host it for whoever makes the server? I couldn't pay for it on my own, but you can give higher ranks on the server to people who donate. So say I donate like $0.50, you would make me the head admin. ;o ;o (JK again lol)

^^^ or the people who set up this whole thing and contribute to its creation can be the admins (no HEAD admin that would cause a power struggle in the end)
About the donations how about we have the people who donate get special idk items also perks?
The server should work a little like the current villager defence server with its vip system and kits.

I hate servers with big structures build in MCedit with rules like no TNT, ect. If the server did happen, I think it should be set up with software to where you can claim land and build stuff. So each person say gets 50-100 chunks and they can make settings like turn mobs on and off or something.

Another option would be to do it like creative... :D

I have a idea (I also dont play MineCraft and I was awful at the free XBox version).

What if no admin powers or anything but just a big Urbanville that people can buy stuff in, sell stuff in, talk to others in, and so on. Then once you've made enough money (ore, diamond (obsidian?)), you can buy your own piece of land and make a house or a store.

Eh? Eh?
