I'd say there are 5 major upgrades, but that's debatable depending on how granular you want to get with the upgrades.

The assault system hasn't really changed, there's a second assault section that you can play at your own pace. Perhaps we need another name for that.

there is purple boxes around the dispositions and an orange box around the one that you are.

you can cancel the battle while your in the battle.

Click on "inbox" in the upper right of the window.

I think this is new. I remember only numbers and the letter icon up there.
